FREE Download Bug-In Recipe Cookbook

The Preparedness Community is a great community! A while back, I put up a request for submitted recipes that would be published in a FREE downloadable cookbook. The purpose of this crowd-sourced project is to provide preppers and non-preppers a source of easy to make recipe ideas if bugging-in was necessary.

With most of the world in the midst of a pandemic, this is a good opportunity to share these recipes, 45 total. However, the goal is to continue adding to this recipe book and provide future editions for free as well!

Dropbox – CLICK HERE – You do not need to create an account or sign-in to download! This is a lie. Clicked on the link and the first thing that pops up is I have to have an account in order to download the cookbook.

    1. A lie? Maybe you are confused and need clarification. There is a link at the bottom of the pop-up that says “No thanks, continue to view.” After you click that, the window closes and you can click the download button on the top right corner.

        Todd –
You are absolutely correct. The recipe book is easy to download and free as noted. I quickly scanned through the recipes and found three that interest myself and the DW. We will be trying one of them out Friday night. Thank you for compiling this collection and thank-you to your followers for submitting the recipes.

  2. Hi Todd,

Thanks for your efforts to compile the The Bug In Cook Book. On page 21 would you mind adding:

At the bottom of Grandpa’s Soup. (I might have forgotten to send that with the recipe.
    Keep up the GOOD work!

    1. Hi,

I’ll add it, but it won’t show till next release.

      Peace,
      Todd

  3. Hi Again Todd,
    1. Sorry, I just saw another recipe p. 20 BakingPowderDropBiscuits that I submitted that needs to be sourced. Contributed by: HLisech – Lisech family cookbook.

    2. I kinda feel bad for submitting so many family recipes but hope people understand. Just trying to help. (Our family w 5 adult children assembled all our “favorites” in our family cookbook. 211 pages.)

Feel free to move them around so they don’t appear as a “bunch” from me.

    3. Here is one more that might be helpful if things go south.

    Zucchini Patties
We made these patties when we were in missionary simple life/survival training. A great way to use LARGE “older” zucchini that have grown past normal usage size. (LARGE firmer Zuccs are actually BETTER than using the younger tender ones.)

    3 cups zucchini (shredded)
    1/3 cups cheddar cheese grated
    1 cup Bisquick (or equivalent)
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp onion
    Salt, pepper

Drop batter by spoonfuls in skillet with oil.  Flatten out like cakes.  Brown and serve.   (My family loved them)

  4. Todd,
Have you ever run across Emergency Preparedness for Christians (7 Parts–2nd edit. 2.4) by Thomas McLennan Jr.?

A mutual friend connected me with him and I have his pdf eBook. If you don’t have it I think he would be willing for me to forward a copy to you since you are coming at prepping from a Christian perspective (a long as it is not printed and resold.)

Since I do desktop publishing I asked him about publishing it but he is not ready for that.

    1. I have seen some books that sound familiar, but I honestly can’t recall if I’ve seen that specific book. I did a quick search and couldn’t find anything. Do you have a link?

      Peace,
      Todd

      1. No, I just have the pdf eBook he sent me. He gave me permission to send to my family members. I will check with him to see if it’s OK to send you a copy. It is copyrighted and basically he doesn’t want others selling it or making a profit from his work. HLisech

  5. I love this cookbook and would love to add another “recipe” that has been in my family for many many years:
    Creative Casseroles
    Select items from each group.

Group 1: bacon, bologna, cheese, cooked chicken, chipped beef, cooked crab, cooked corned beef, hard cooked eggs, hot dogs, browned hamburger, cooked or canned meat, cooked salmon, canned sardines, browned sausage, cooked shrimp, canned tuna, cooked turkey

Group 2: condensed soup plus 1/2 cup liquid (water or milk). Suggested soups: asparagus, celery, chicken, mushroom, shrimp, tomato, pea

Group 3: 1 to 2 cups cooked macaroni, noodles, rice or spaghetti

Group 4: (add any of these if desired): slivered almonds, bean sprouts, ketchup, chopped celery, grated cheese, chili sauce, Chinese noodles, diced green pepper, horseradish, canned or browned mushrooms, mustard, chopped or sliced olives, chopped onions or chives, chopped parsley, diced pimiento, sliced or wedged tomatoes, cooked vegetables, french fried onion rings

Group 5: Seasonings – herbs and spices if desired – all to taste.

Group 6: toppings to keep the mixture from drying out: bread or cracker crumbs with melted butter, crushed corn flakes with melted butter, crushed potato chips, crushed tortilla chips (plain or flavored), Chinese noodles mixed with melted butter, grated or sliced cheese.

Directions: grease a casserole dish. Select one or more items from each group (the amounts depend on how many servings you are making or how much you have on hand (left overs). Combine the ingredients (except from group 6) in the casserole dish, top with selection from group 6. Bake 30 minutes or until hot, bubbly at 350F. Can be made ahead of time and frozen. Thaw before baking.

Great recipe or guideline for using up left overs. I always think of tuna noodle casserole or other meat, veggie, condensed soup mixture we ate growing up.

thanks to all of you that said this is a free and easy download – it is neither – especially for us Mac users. every time I followed the directions I was told I had to have an account so why the “drop box” crap and other idiotic “programs” just to download why not just have a simple download from your site directly to ours unless you get some kid of kickback from drop box and the others. Make it as simple to obtain as possible for everyone. I refuse to pay for dropbox or any other additional peripheral.

    1. You don’t have to have a Dropbox account. Just click the x on that box.
